The pediatric emergency room at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children (RMHC) provides infants, children and adolescents in and around the Greater Denver area with exceptional emergency care when minutes matter most. Our dedicated children’s emergency room is staffed with board-certified pediatric specialists specially trained in emergency treatment. We provide full-service care when your child has a medical emergency, injury or ailment.

Our facility offers short wait times (day and night), kid-sized equipment and cheerful decor. We also provide highly effective pain management for injuries in children and are in close communication with your child’s primary care doctor whenever possible. Patients and families can expect the same leading-edge care that Denver has come to expect from HealthONE.

RMHC pediatric ER locations

While all of our children’s ER facilities are fully equipped to provide care for a range of pediatric illnesses and injuries, our full-service ER at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center can provide extended care for more serious conditions.

Our child-friendly emergency rooms are closer than you think. In addition to the dedicated 24/7 pediatric emergency room at 20th and N High Street in downtown Denver, RMHC has five additional affiliated emergency rooms within Greater Denver to provide care for the entire family. Our pediatric-friendly ER locations include Aurora Medical Center, North Suburban Medical Center, Rose Medical Center, Sky Ridge Medical Center and Swedish Medical Center.

Our emergency room at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center

When a child has a medical emergency, injury or ailment, it’s essential to get emergency medical care as quickly as possible. RMHC at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center (P/SL) offers emergency care for kids 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for children and adolescents in the Denver community.

The pediatric emergency room at P/SL offers rapid emergency care with minimized wait times available online and updated every 30 minutes.

Our pediatricians and other pediatric emergency physicians share their expertise and passion for caring for children with a wide variety of emergency medical conditions. Because an emergency room situation can be nerve-wracking for both parents and children, we work to keep kids calm and parents reassured, with leading pain and anxiety-reducing techniques.

Our Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children at P/SL is also home to the largest Level IV NICU in the region for neonatal emergencies that require additional care. Our Level IV NICU, the highest designation, offers round-the-clock care from neonatologist and hospitalists, as well as special designation for delivery room resuscitation, respiratory care, high-frequency ventilation and surgery.

Because every second counts during an emergency, our NICU and pediatric ER teams work hand-in-hand to ensure the highest-quality, uninterrupted care for you and your child.

Neonatal transport program

Providing life-saving care to infants throughout the Rocky Mountain region and the surrounding states is the specialty of the AirLife Neonatal Transport Team. Comprised of a uniquely experienced group of neonatal registered nurses (RN), neonatal respiratory therapists (RT) and neonatal nurse practitioners (NNP), the Neonatal Transport Team responds to births and helps transport high-risk infants, infants born prematurely or those that are critically ill.

Our neonatal team takes care of patients from birth to 48 weeks gestational age.

AirLife’s unique approach to advanced medical care is evidenced by the expertise of the neonatal transport team. Each neonatal registered nurse and neonatal respiratory therapist is required to have a minimum of three years neonatal intensive care experience at a tertiary care facility, such as Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children. The team’s neonatal nurse practitioners also all have a minimum of three years of experience in their field at a tertiary care facility. The unique training and specialized expertise of AirLife's Neonatal Transport Team have made a critical difference in tiny lives across our region since 1991.
