Pediatric intensive care unit in Denver
Children who have complex surgery or need to be hospitalized due to serious illness or injury are often cared for in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). The PICU at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center provides comprehensive care and monitoring 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Our pediatric intensive care team includes board-certified pediatric intensivists (pediatric critical care specialists) and nurses who are specially trained to provide pediatric critical care and intensive care for kids. Your child's nurse is intimately involved in the minute-to-minute care of your child.
Respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists and pediatric pharmacists may also be part of your child's medical team.
The pediatric intensivists at our PICU provide comprehensive care for children in critical conditions. We care for children from birth through their teen years, making caring for sick children the core of our medical practice. Our pediatric experts provide the unique care your child needs, including specialized emergency care, along with care:
- For certain heart conditions
- Following major surgery
- For severe breathing problems from asthma
