
According to Dr. Rachel Brewer, a youth sports medicine specialist with Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, there’s no such thing as too cold. “I just say you have the wrong clothes on,” says Brewer, an avid runner who once logged 40 miles in negative 10 degree Fahrenheit conditions to celebrate her 40th birthday. As long as you’re dressed appropriately for the conditions, exercising in the cold is perfectly safe–no matter how low the thermometer dips, says Brewer.
