Children and the Vaccine for Novel H1N1 Swine Flu Denver Colorado
Wondering if You Should Vaccinate Your Child Against Swine Flu?
A vaccine for the seasonal flu has been tested and was made available to the public in September. However, this vaccine only protects against the strain of seasonal flu that is expected to surface this fall, not the H1N1 strain.
The availability of this vaccine will be limited, so the CDC has identified the following groups as key populations to receive the H1N1 vaccine:
Young Children and Young Adults between 6 months and 24 years old
Pregnant women
People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months old
Health care personnel
People ages 25 to 64 years who have chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems
